Huck and Jim's escape

When Huck escaped, he had time to set up a scene that made it look like he was murdered. He also had time to take supplies like food, cooking supplies and weapons.
Jim had less time to work with so he escaped at the first chance he got. He did not take anything with him which made things a lot harder.

  1. Your right on two counts, Eli. Huck had been thinking about his escape for a long time, working out plans. He had a lot of time to think locked up in the cabin, didn't he? Jim on the otherhand decided to leave spontaneously. It didn't sound as if he had ever given it any thought before, but just left in a panic. Thus Huck even with his limited time knew what he needed - he was thinking about a life ahead of him and wanted to survive. I think all Jim thought about was escape.
